Veronika's difficult way. 4

The parents found out that the little girl was seriously ill when she was 7 months pregnant. Doctors discovered a congenital anomaly of the unborn girl's central nervous system and spine. After the start of labor, at 38 weeks, the newborn was immediately sent to the intensive care unit of the Kyiv OKHMATDYT. The girl was named Veronika, and after a thorough examination, she was diagnosed with multiple malformations of the central nervous system and spine, which was later supplemented by hydrocephalus and Chiari anomaly (2nd degree).

There was no time to lose, so the next day the doctors decided to perform surgery on Veronika's spinal cord (to remove the pathological fixation), and a few days later corrected the hydrocephalus. Later, when Veronika was 7 months old, a new brain surgery was performed, and in January 2020, a shunt was installed to remove excess fluid from the brain.

Now Veronika is 4 years old, and in addition to spinal and central nervous system malformations, she has symptomatic epilepsy, lower paraparesis, severe hydrocephalus, foot deformities, and partial optic atrophy. Fortunately, rehabilitation is helping to improve Veronika's condition. During the last course, the girl began to show very good results in physical, psychomotor and speech development. She understands speech better and follows doctors' instructions. The progress is very noticeable, and therefore it is impossible to stop rehabilitation now.
