Thanks to the charitable support of mobile operator Vodafone Ukraine, we are implementing a project to purchase breathing equipment and an infusion stand for the St. Nicholas Children's Hospital in Lviv.
This equipment will help doctors provide uninterrupted breathing support and administer the necessary medications to children in critical conditions – from newborns to adolescents. It is here that the most difficult cases from all over the country are treated. Every year, more than 28,000 children are hospitalized at the hospital, and more than 90,000 children receive consultations and examinations. Newborns with critical conditions, children with severe brain injuries, birth defects, cancer, and babies born prematurely are saved here. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the hospital has been receiving more and more seriously wounded children, as well as infants with complications related to the stress and physical exertion their mothers experienced during pregnancy. In such conditions, modern equipment becomes not just a tool, but a means of salvation: In such circumstances, modern equipment becomes not just a tool, but a means of salvation.
As part of the project, we purchase:
-
oxygen and air mixer with analyzer. This device allows you to precisely adjust the oxygen supply according to the child's condition. Its excess or deficiency can cause serious complications – from lung problems to brain or vision damage. The mixer allows doctors to quickly and safely adjust the optimal breathing conditions for each patient.
-
automatic respiratory humidifier. When air enters a child's respiratory tract, it must not only be properly oxygenated, but also warm and humid. Dry air can injure the immature mucous membrane and cause complications. A humidifier provides comfortable breathing, which speeds up recovery and reduces risks.
-
infusion stand. This is the basis for the uninterrupted administration of medications, nutrients and painkillers. It provides precision, stability, and safe support during intensive care or when transporting patients within the hospital.
For a child in critical condition, breathing and stable administration of medications is not an option, but a vital necessity. This equipment allows doctors to save children in intensive care, stabilize newborns, avoid complications after surgery, and reduce risks for children affected by war. When every second counts, it is systems like this that help give a child the most important thing – a chance to live. It is breathing for a child. It is support for the parents. It is a hope that the darkest moments will be replaced by light.
Thank you, Vodafone Ukraine, for your help!
