When Dania was taken to intensive care, the doctor told his parents: “His condition is serious, but your child is holding on bravely. Just pray!”. Dania is a true fighter, and he pulled through. He returned home with a diagnosis of insulin-dependent diabetes.

The war has repeatedly shattered his familiar world, and any sense of safety around him proved temporary. At the start of the full-scale invasion, the family had to leave their hometown of Zolote in the Luhansk region. They moved farther from the front line, but within a year even that place became dangerous.

On October 4, Dania moved with his grandmother and younger sister to the village of Bohdanivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region. His father serves in the military, and his mother had to stay and work in a frontline town.

For many years, Danyil had to prick his fingers more than 10 times a day to check his blood glucose. The punctures healed slowly and often became infected. His parents searched for a way to ease their son’s suffering – and they found one. Dania started using Freestyle Libre 2 sensors. With their help, he finally managed to achieve stable glucose control and avoid dangerous glucose spikes.

One sensor lasts only 14 days, so 24 sensors are needed per year. These devices are vital for Dania: his diabetes is severe, and he already has complications affecting his nervous system, leg vessels, and eyesight.

Only the sensors can ensure continuous glucose monitoring, slow the progression of the disease, and help prevent irreversible consequences.

Despite everything he has been through, Danyil does not give up. He graduated from lyceum and is now in his second year at Luhansk National University, studying Physical Education, Sports, and Coaching. He also trains at the gym and is preparing to take his driving exam.

To purchase a year's supply of Freestyle Libre 2 sensors, you need to save up a considerable amount of money. Please help Dania protect his health and keep believing in kindness. Every contribution – every single hryvnia – is a step toward a life without pain and fear!
