This is the story of a young man who has proven that even the most challenging circumstances cannot stop a person determined to move forward. Illia was born with severe health conditions and spent many years using a wheelchair. However, thanks to consistent treatment and his remarkable determination, he is now able to walk independently. To preserve these achievements and continue his journey toward greater independence, Illia needs our support to undergo another course of rehabilitation treatment.

The specialists of the Institute of Pain Problems first met Illia when he was only three years old. He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, right-sided hemiparesis, joint contractures, and a cognitive disorder.

As he grew up, Illia completed one rehabilitation course after another, overcoming pain, fatigue, and numerous challenges. Gradually, results began to appear – results that once seemed almost impossible to achieve. Today, he can walk independently, although he still requires support when covering longer distances. He places weight on his right foot with much greater confidence, has improved control over his movements, and is able to perform many everyday tasks without assistance.

Yet the most remarkable changes extend far beyond physical improvements. As his mobility has increased, so too have his opportunities and independence. Illia studies through an individual educational program and has a strong interest in mathematics and biology. Recently, his fine motor skills have improved significantly: he has become better at drawing, colors more accurately, and rarely goes beyond the outlines of his pictures. He also enjoys helping his mother with household tasks – feeding the family’s cats and chickens, gathering grass for the rabbits, and doing his best to contribute and become more self-reliant.

Sport plays an important role in Illia’s life as well. He has become a winner of boccia and shot put competitions among athletes with musculoskeletal disabilities. He actively participates in creative workshops, enjoys painting, and takes genuine pride in every new achievement.

Illia is being raised by his mother, who does everything possible to support his development and rehabilitation. However, years of ongoing treatment require substantial financial resources that the family can no longer provide on their own. Stopping now is not an option, as it was systematic rehabilitation that enabled Illia to leave his wheelchair behind and take his first independent steps.

Today, we ask you to support a young man who has already demonstrated his ability to achieve what once seemed unattainable. Every contribution will help Illia continue his treatment, maintain the progress he has worked so hard to achieve, and take another step toward an independent future.

Together, we can help him keep moving forward.
