Mykyta is a brave and talented boy who loves to draw and plays the violin beautifully.
When he was 5 years old, his family suffered a double tragedy. His father was diagnosed with cancer, and Mykyta developed type 1 diabetes due to stress. His mother pulled herself together and prepared her son for the future. Life does not end with such a diagnosis; it is just the beginning of a new stage. It is possible to live with diabetes and achieve success in various areas and fields. Mykyta has already come to terms with his illness, but sometimes he says, “Why do I have this disease, why am I not like everyone else?”. His mother's heart breaks at such moments...
At the beginning of his journey with diabetes, Mykyta used a glucometer to measure his blood sugar. It was painful to prick his fingers every time, and it was impossible to constantly monitor changes in his sugar levels. Eventually, he started using sensors, and his life changed for the better.
Mykyta is now going through puberty and hormonal surges, so it has become more difficult to control his sugar levels. The boy does not feel when he has hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia. With sensors, he can even eat something tasty.
Mykyta has a younger brother, and his mother cannot afford to buy him the necessary sensors on her own, as a lot of money goes towards dietary food. Therefore, the family is asking for help from caring people to purchase sensors for measuring blood sugar.
