Life in a corset

Dasha is 12-year-old girl, who suffers from the severe form of congenital malformation of the spinal column – nowadays she has scoliosis of the 4th degree in the cervical-thoracic and lumbar section of the spine. During all her life this girl has been operated for 9 times, but she really needs another one, the most complex operation in Germany to correct her spine. If it wouldn't be done, then Dasha may get the spontaneous attack of paralysis due to the compression of her spinal canal in the cervicothoracic transition! But it requires lots of means. Help Dasha live her life without a corset!

Dasha is 12-year-old girl, who suffers from the severe form of congenital malformation of the spinal column – nowadays she has scoliosis of the 4th degree in the cervical-thoracic and lumbar section of the spine. This operation needs to be done as soon as possible, because Dasha has this torturing pain both in her back and legs. Living the last 6 years in a corset, she has the pain because of the corset as well. And it seems impossible to live without it anyway. The girl has the rubbed sores and the bruises on her skin! Dasha can't walk for a long time because of the large difference in the legs' length. Any trip turns into the torment for her. The girl has to stop and crouch to relieve the pain in her legs and back. As she has the torticollis, it is hard to breathe for Dasha and she tries to align her head to the right to release the breath. And she has a dream to dance! But while she is in a corset – it's impossible!

Dasha has this mixture of problems... First of all, all the blame are because of her genetics. The man has a chromosome set. But her 9th chromosome is "inverted". So it gives a failure to all of her body. Bones and tissues grow the way they want. The tumors appear so the spine is being modified from inside. Recently Dasha had her tonsils being reduced for the third time. The doctor said that actually the tonsils have become solid, and so they had to be not cut but nipped off by forceps (the tissue fibrosis).

It's not going to be an operation to restore her beauty, it is the vital one for this child and there's no time to waste it. Russian doctors couldn't longer help Dasha, so in December 2013 the girl and her mother went for a consultation with leading German specialists. The Clinic "Schön Klinik Neustadt" agreed to operate Dasha. It was the greatest joy, however the invoice from the clinic needs so much money to be pay that the family can't do it by her own. 52 000 euro is the price of the Dasha's healthy life.

On UBB (Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace) we are going to raise a part of the required amount as some part has already been raised, and the rest is expected to raise from the other sources.
