Help overcome the pain! 2

In 2014, after the treatment, which had lasted a year and a half, and 18 sessions of chemotherapy, parents of Dania Sirota, heard a terrible word “recurrence”. Shock, confusion and resentment. Just half a year has passed since the completion of the treatment. They have just returned to Zaporizhzhia hoping to get back to living like all normal families. This was the news, which threw all – parents, relatives and friends off balance. But not Dania. 

He took the news surprisingly calmly, without tears and hysterics. He said he would not give up and would continue fighting. Then there was one more operation on removal of metastases and sessions of a high-dose chemotherapy. He lost his hair again and there was a long period of rehabilitation. But what is the hair? It is nothing! It will grow again! What is important is that Dania has a will to win and a confidence that he will win this battle.

And cancer receded. Dania has been in remission for five years. But the disease has left an indelible mark. Not a day goes by that Dania does not recall it. His left leg, where a part of bone was removed together with a tumour, still does not let a grown boy live a normal life. And if he fails to finish treatment and install a permanent prosthesis, then the only chance, which was given to Dania in the Center for Reconstructive Surgery of Extremities in Munich, all the efforts to save the leg will be in vain, and our champion will be crippled forever... and he is just 17...

Thanks to the previous project on the Ukrainian Philantropic Marketplace (ubb.org.ua) money, which partially helped to install a growing implant module, were raised. Now augmentation of the upper part of a thigh bone continues. Dania’s life consists of a series of trips “home-hospital”, but he is sure all that is not in vain. The next stage and a final goal of treatment in Munich must become the installation of the Bio XPAND permanent prosthesis, but Dania’s family does not have money for this yet. And the time is ticking away. The next phase of treatment begins in May 2020.

It is only you, friends, who can help him. Dania graduates from school this year, and then – an adult life. He fought so courageously all these years, he suffered so much. We cannot let all this be for nothing! We really can help him!

In this project we want to raise a part of the necessary amount, i. e. 500, 000 UAH.
