Elvina does not feel danger without a sensor

Elvina is an active and cheerful child. She is only 9 years old, yet at such a young age she has already been forced to grow up. Every day this little girl battles a terrible illness – type 1 diabetes. It is a disease that demands constant blood sugar monitoring: every hour and every minute, 24 hours a day, with no days off and no breaks. The daily finger pricks and insulin injections are deeply exhausting for both the child and her parents.
Elvina has no sensitivity to hypoglycemia – she simply does not feel the symptoms of dropping blood sugar, which poses a serious risk to her health. To anticipate drops in blood sugar levels, the family uses continuous glucose monitoring sensors. These display glucose levels in real time and help prevent hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia, which can be life-threatening, especially at night. The sensors help reduce the number of finger pricks throughout the day, allow changes in blood sugar to be tracked, and enable timely intervention – protecting her from complications.
Unfortunately, such sensors are expensive. Taking into account all the other costs of consumables – injection needles, glucometer test strips, lancets for finger pricks, and so on – it is very difficult for the family to purchase sensors on an ongoing basis.
We cannot change the circumstances, but we can ease Elvina's childhood and make her life better and safer by providing her with sensors. Let's support this little girl together!
