Mykhailo is most passionate about computer science and geography. In his dreams, he travels through cities and countries and wants to become a programmer.
Mykhailo was born on time, but during birth he suffered oxygen deprivation. The consequences were severe: at 9 months, doctors diagnosed him with cerebral palsy, hemiplegia, and spastic tetraparesis. This means that many everyday actions are very difficult for Mykhailo to perform, and some are not accessible to him at all.
Since childhood, Mykhailo has regularly undergone rehabilitation courses. Thanks to the therapy sessions, he has learned to hold his head up, sit with support, use his hands, and type on a laptop keyboard.
He is unable to write – muscle tension prevents him from holding a pen. However, he understands spoken language well. The words “yes” and “no” are the only ones he can say, but more often he responds by nodding his head.
Mykhailo completed 9 grades. He enjoys learning new things, is interested in computers, and dreams of becoming a programmer. However, the family cannot afford to pay for his education.
His greatest passion is car rides. Even a short trip brings him new impressions and boundless joy.
Mykhailo is 21 years old and lives in the city of Samar. He has a younger brother, 14-year-old Andrii. Their father passed away in 2017, and since then all the care for the children has fallen on their mother. Svitlana cannot go to work because Mykhailo requires constant care.
He enjoys sessions with specialists at the St. John's Center. Such courses help reduce spasticity, strengthen muscles, maintain acquired skills, and develop new ones.
In late April or early May, Mykhailo is scheduled to undergo another round of rehabilitation at the “Ioannіv Center”. Funds must be raised to cover the costs of massage therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy sessions, as this amount is beyond Svitlana’s means. Please support Mykhailo with a donation of any amount! Every contribution brings him closer to new milestones.
